Docents are available to maximize the learning opportunities for your students by giving in-depth tours of current exhibitions. One chaperone per every 15 children (age 18 and under) is required. Self-Guided Tours

Groups are invited to visit MoPA and tour the exhibitions on their own. One chaperone per every 15 children (age 18 and under) is required to accompany tours. Efforts will be made to accommodate larger groups, though the ideal tour size is 15-20 people. Behind-the-Scenes Tours
Suggested donation: $50. Maximum 20 people
Museum staff, understand museum daily operations, and get an unforgettable glimpse into a side of the Museum most visitors never get to see. This visit is geared towards college-level art, photography, or museum studies classes, and will also introduce students to the various resources available at MoPA. Print-Viewing Room
Free with two-weeks advanced notice. Maximum 20 people
MoPA’s print-viewing room is available to scholars, educators, students, and artists for specific projects related to MoPA’s permanent collection of 9,000 photographs. Contact (619) 238-7559 x230 or email muller@mopa.org for more information.
Cost
Docent-led and self-guided tours are free of charge to school groups and organized nonprofit groups with advance reservation of two weeks or more.
General group tours are $4 per person with advance reservations of two weeks or more.
General Tour Guidelines
- Docent-led or self-guided tours are available everyday, except holidays, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. A two-week advance reservation is required for all tours.
- The museum does not provide tours on Free Tuesday (Second Tues. of every month).
- Unless otherwise notified, docents and educators will wait ten minutes past the scheduled tour time, after which the group must self-guide.
- The ideal tour size is 15- 20 people. Efforts will be made to split larger groups between multiple docents if available.
- One chaperone per every 15 children (age 18 and under) is required to accompany tours.
