Portraits of Vision

February 21 - March 9, 2017 - From photographer Lynda Koolish's book African American Writers: Portraits and Visions, the pop-up exhibition Portraits of Vision opens at the Museum of Photographic Arts from Feb. 21 - March 9, 2017. The exhibition celebrates Black History Month, Women's History Month and International Women's Day on March 8. Koolish has been photographing African American authors in their homes, at public readings, in universities, and at conferences and festivals for a period of 45 years. Her photographs present the faces of acclaimed African American writers, highlights the diversity within African American literature and celebrates the many genres it explores. Presented in partnership with the Women's Museum of California, it is included with Pay What You Wish admission.
