MOPA Presents Bilingual Solo Exhibition Featuring Flor Garduño

Flor Garduño: Trilogy
January 30 – May 29, 2016

SAN DIEGO – The Museum of Photographic Arts presents a solo exhibition featuring three bodies of work by Mexican contemporary photographer Flor Garduño.

Flor Garduño: Trilogy consists of 96 images from BestiariumSilent natures and Fantastic women. These represent principal themes from her career of photographic work between Mexico and Europe. Presented in Spanish and English, this exhibition aligns with MOPA’s international engagement initiatives, said MOPA Executive Director Deborah Klochko.

“Flor is one of the best and most-recognized Mexican contemporary photographers,” Klochko said. “Her work is evocative, exquisite, poetic and rich in visual imagery. It speaks across cultures and countries.”

Fantastic women, which celebrates the feminine universe and female body, will open for a preview week starting Jan. 30. The full exhibition will then open Feb. 6. Bestiarium features real and fictional images of animals while Silent naturescontemplates wilderness, according to Garduño’s website.

“Whenever I think of Silent natures, I must confess that I created these photographs for myself, to maintain my playful spirit throughout all these years,” Garduño said.

The opening reception for MOPA Members and guests will be on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. with a special VIP reception starting at 6 p.m. Trilogy will be on display at MOPA through May 29, 2016. For additional information, please visit www.MOPA.org/exhibit/flor-garduno-trilogy.
