About Our Panelists
Mariel Miranda
Mariel Miranda [Distrito Federal, 1987], is a graduate of the Bachelor of Sociology from the Autonomous University of Baja California. Her photographic work has received national and state distinctions and has been exhibited individually and collectively in Tijuana, Coahuila, Oaxaca, Mexico City and San Diego, CA. She has been a fellow of the Program of Stimuli for Creation and Artistic Development by the Institute of Culture of Baja California, in the category of Art Research in Baja California, 2012-2013.
As a researcher and visual artist she has developed different projects focused on themes related to the social uses of photography in its relationship with technology, time, space and memory. Her visual essays have been published in national and international publishers as part of interdisciplinary collaborations that he has established with research registered within the Cultural Studies, carried out in Mexico and the United States.
She is the co-director and founder of the International Photography Festival Tijuana, FIFT. Currently she’s studying in the Contemporary Photography Program in the city of Tijuana. She works in the Research Center El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, attached to the Doctorate in Cultural Studies as well as in the State Arts Center as a professor of the permanent photography workshop.

Lorena Gómez Mostajo
Lorena is an editor, writer, and photographer. She has collaborated with the photography journal Luna Córnea as an essayist and editor and has written for newspapers and magazines such as Reforma, La Tempestad, Picnic and Letras Libres. Lorena is the editor, along with Mara Fortes, of Chris Marker Inmemoria, a volume of essays about the French filmmaker published by the Ambulante Documentary Film Festival. She is also in the process of editing two other books with Ambulante: the first is a chronicle of the Ambulante Más Allá video training project and the other is a Spanish translation of Amos Vogel’s Film As a Subversive Art. Lorena’s artistic work has been included in several collective exhibitions in Mexico, the United States and Germany. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Recently, she founded Taller Salón, an independent publishing house that works with artists and writers to produce different kinds of printed matter. Taller Salón is also a printing house that helps artists in the San Diego-Tijuana community create a variety of projects at low cost.
