In May of 1967, Samuel Wm. Sax, President of the Exchange National Bank of Chicago, discussed with Beaumont Newhall the idea of establishing an art collection focused solely on photography. What arose from this conversation developed into a body of collected work assembled by the duo of Nancy and Beaumont Newhall. The first corporate collection of photography in the United States. It emerged at a particular moment in time—the late 1960s—when radical ideas appeared in almost every discipline. During this tumultuous and transitional period, the corporate environment was changing physically from formal settings into workspaces which allowed freedom of movement and interaction with customers, while the art world was redefining itself and its relationship to photography as a fine art.

Moment in Timeis a stunning selection of works spanning the history of photography, this exhibition presents iconic images from Julia Margaret Cameron, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Imogen Cunningham, Robert Frank, Dorothea Lange, and many more.
