Seniors Exploring Photography, Identity and Appreciation
The SEPIA™ Initiative is a series of exciting new programs offered for senior citizens. The initiative encourages seniors to be engaged with art and their community by promoting art-based dialog and opportunities to create photographic images. All programs for the SEPIA™ Initiative are free of cost to the organizations and participants.
The SEPIA™ Initiative includes:
- Digital Photography Course: A simple and fun four-session class designed to introduce senior citizens to digital cameras and artistic photography techniques.
- Outreach Tours: Presentations held at senior centers and homes that share images from MOPA’s permanent collection to generate dialogue and teach art appreciation.
- Museum Tours: Docent-led tours through MOPA’s current exhibitions designed for senior citizens to promote group participation and art appreciation.
Funding for the initiative is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and Institute of Museum and Library Services, City of San Diego Commission for Arts & Culture, County of San Diego Neighborhood Reinvestment Program, and May and Stanley Smith Charitable Trust.
