A young boy’s bafflement at his family’s generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Following a mysterious chain of events, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Where he learns not only the true family, but also the importance of family and honoring our dead.
This screening is family friendly.
About the Festival:
Coming of Age is San Diego’s only Film Festival dedicated to promoting, reinforcing and celebrating the process and power of aging.
Every film will feature an introductory statement by Joaquin Anguera, PhD, retired Professor of Gerontology at San Diego State University and Member of the California Commission on Aging.
The five-film series will run weekly, Fridays from May 3 to May 31, 2019, at 7 pm. To make the Festival as inclusive and accessible as possible, admission is free to all films.
Seating is first come first served. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
