SD Italian Film Festival Presents: Napoli Velata
The San Diego Italian Film Festival Presents: Napoli Velata Directed by Ferzan Özpetek | 113 minutes In this moody, baroque thriller from Turkish-Italian director Ferzan Ozpetek, Adriana, a medical examiner, meets a younger man, Andrea, during a party at her eccentric aunt’s garish apartment. They hit it off immediately, though their romance, a night of intense passion, is curtailed when Andrea later stands her up. While inspecting a corpse at work, Adriana notices a distinctive tattoo that reminds her of Andrea’s—at least as she remembers it. So begins a gripping metaphysical murder mystery, in which Naples plays a pivotal role of an additional storyteller, becoming a shadowy, mysterious labyrinth of desire and memory. Attendees will also enjoy a screening of the short film The Same Name (7 minutes) by Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo. The short is one of the twenty finalists of our new Short Film Competition.
