Adult Programs Assistant

Status: Part time, non-exempt 

Hours: hours per week 18-22

Salary Range: $15-17

Reports to: Manager of Adult and Digital Engagement

This position reports to the Manager of Adult and Digital Engagement and is part of the Department of Visual Learning. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Senior Programs 

Implement senior educational programs (SEPIA) for the Department of Visual Learning. Primary duties include:

  • Instruct programs offsite and at the museum for older adults and seniors including, but not limited to, photography courses, museum tours, outreach art talks and one-time workshops.
  • Develop content and activities for programs.
  • Communicate with partner organizations to schedule and implement programs.
  • Maintain program calendar, track supplies, and report attendance statistics.
  • Attend training and information sessions relevant to programs as necessary.

Adult Programs 

Assist implementing programs for diverse adult audiences for the Department of Visual Learning. Primary duties include:

  • Assist the Manager of Adult and Digital Engagement with the preparation and implementation of educational programs for adult audiences.
  • Communicate program details and logistics internally and with partner organizations.

Film Programs

Assist with film programs and partnerships. Primary duties include:

  • Maintain a calendar of film programs and event listings on MOPA.org.
  • Assist communication with film program partners.
  • Compile timelines for events to share with staff.
  • Communicate program details and logistics internally and with partner organizations.

General Administration

Carry out a variety of tasks related to the wider Department of Visual Learning. Primary duties include:

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Department of Visual Learning
  • Provide general support and assistance to the Department of Visual Learning
  • Attend MOPA staff meetings and department meetings
  • Represent MOPA in a professional manner at internal and external meetings and public events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, flexibility, and enthusiasm are required. The candidate must have their own car and the ability to travel to various program sites. The candidate must be able to work with adults, older adults and senior citizens with a wide range of knowledge, experience, and abilities.

  • Knowledge and experience with photography, including using and being able to explain how to use digital camera functions, compositional techniques, etc.
  • One to three years of teaching, working, or volunteer experience with diverse audiences, adults and especially older adults and senior citizens is preferred
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
