Development & Prospect Research Assistant

Position: Development & Prospect Research Assistant

Status:    Part-time

Position: Non-exempt, hourly ($15-$16/hour)

Start Date: Immediately

Reports to: Director of Development Operations

  • Administrative support for the development team to enhance productivity and operational efficiency
  • Receipt of donations (cash, check & stock), process, create deposits, and data entry of all (outright, in-kind & memberships)
  • Gift acknowledgment to donors and members
  • Database management including lead staff on database, list management, donor history and campaign reports
  • Coordinate the selection of data for mailings, database queries, reporting and list extraction (minimum of 6 direct mailings/appeals throughout the year, 2 exhibition openings, and periodic reports); other, if need arises
  • Assist with membership fulfillment process and member requests
  • Mail merge to print labels, letters and appeals
  • Manage efficient and accurate filing system for all donor records; streamline gift processing procedures where applicable
  • Perform prospect research using FoundationCenter.org, Donorsearch.com, San Diego Business Journal, Insider Philanthropy, and other research tools and produce formal prospect profiles for review of major gifts and major giving team

Qualifications

  • Extensive database experience required, DonorPerfect (DP) a plus
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office required (including mail merge)
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Previous employment by a non-profit preferred
  • Personality that likes to work as a team

Hours: Part-time, 4 days/week, maximum of 20 hours.
