Summer Camp Assistant
Status: Part-time, Temporary
Hours: 20-40 hours per program week on average, need will vary by week, no minimum hours per week guaranteed
Salary: $16.30 per hour
Seasonal period:: June 2023 through August 2023, needs vary from week to week
Reports to: Senior Manager of Public Engagement
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Public Engagement and is part of the Department of Visual Learning.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the campers’ experience by providing assistance with projects and facilitating social interactions with campers;
- Provide positive energy and influence within the camp environment;
- Lead games for campers during check-in, check-out, and during free lunch time;
- Escort campers around the Museum and Balboa Park;
- Assist as needed with supplies, set up and cleanup of classroom and other related duties;
- Additional duties as assigned.
Experience and Characteristics:
- Must be 18 years old
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing.
- Must work well with children ages 6 –18.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certified preferred (training will be available, date and time TBD)
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Knowledge and experience in photography, filmmaking or related fields preferred.
