MOPA Wins Muse Award

The My Gallery Interactive touchscreen interface won the gold award in the Honeysett and Din Student Award category for the American Association of Museum’s MUSE museum technology awards.

My Gallery Interactive was a collaborative project between MOPA, UCSD’s Pacific Rim Undergraduate Experience (PRIME) program, and the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology in Tokyo and Kyoto. Two students from UCSD, Lance Castillo and Wesley Hsu, were selected as the developers for the project. They spent 10 weeks in the summer of 2011 near Osaka, Japan working on the interface. It allows a user to look at 50 images from MOPA’s permanent collection and create a gallery of up to 10 of their favorites. The project debuted at the Knowledge Capital Trial in Osaka in August. Since that time the project received press coverage and exposure in UCSD publications, local newspapers, and at the Museums and the Web conference in April.
