Portraits: Family Role Reversal
What is your role in the family? How do you see the roles of other members of your family? Now imagine, *poof!* You’ve switched! Using props and some cinematic flair, how can you capture a role reversal in a family portrait?
Photographer, Cindy Sherman, created self portraits presenting herself as a wide range of characters playing out a variety of roles using props, costumes, and thoughtful backgrounds. Taking inspiration from MOPA’s annual Youth Exhibition theme, “growing up,” we can play with how the roles we play change – or don’t!
You will need:
- A device to take pictures (Camera, smart phone, or tablet)
- A subject to photograph (yourself, family members, or friends that are with you)
- Props that represent the role you are playing
